Best Apple Picking in the Hudson Valley

Apple season is officially here and we’re excited to kick off the fall fun with our friends and family.

The Hudson Valley offers some of New York’s premier apple and pumpkin picking matched with spectacular views that you can’t find anywhere else. Autumn here is so beautiful that it draws visitors from all over the country and out of the bustling city to relax and welcome the change of seasons.

We’ve put together a list of our favorite places to pick the fall’s first apples so you can map out the beginning of your autumn adventure!

Barton Orchards

As any Hudson Valley resident will tell you, Barton Orchards is a must-see destination for fall pick your own. Barton’s is arguably the largest attraction for apple and pumpkin picking, featuring a cider room, farmer’s market, hayrides and more. Weekends you can enjoy live music, hot lunch and even games for kids.

Fishkill Farms

While Fishkill Farms sticks closely to their home grown roots, they offer the Valley an incredible apple picking experience. They have sprawling orchards with tons of different apple varieties, hot and fluffy cider donuts, hayrides and a view to die for. Sample the farm’s award winning cider and soak up the first sights of the changing leaves on the hill overlooking the orchard.

Wilkens Fruit & Fir Farm

September 2nd kicks off the Wilkens Farm apple picking season in Yorktown Heights. When you check in, you can gather your bags and baskets and sign out some picking poles to reach those perfect apples way out of reach. You and your family can hop on a hayride to the orchard, making it so much easier to haul back your bushels to their farmer’s market for check out.

They also have an amazing bakery, country market and even a winery to explore on your apple adventure!

Harvest Moon Farm

Apple picking season is officially here at Harvest Moon Farm in North Salem. While they politely ask to keep your pets and picnic baskets at home, they have tons of activities to enjoy. Weekends at Harvest Moon you’ll find hayrides, food and craft vendors, bounce houses, farm animals and more. Each weekend this farm is a fall celebration with a little something for everyone.
